RAW was once a workshop for the Reichsbahn, East Germany's state-owned railway company. After being abandoned in 1995, it transformed into a vibrant cultural hub, housing various businesses such as the Urban Spree art gallery, which regularly offers free exhibitions, and nightclubs like Cassiopeia, Suicide Circus, and Weisser Hase. The complex also features a climbing gym (Der Kegel) and a skate park (Skatehalle Berlin), along with several bars and concert venues.
During the summer, you can watch an open-air movie or browse the flea market. Or how about cooling off at Haubentacher, a bar with a pool, showers, food, and music?
One hidden gem at RAW is Teledisko. It looks like an old phone booth from the outside, but inside, it’s the “smallest disco in the world,” complete with lights, smoke, and music. Just insert €2
The easiest way to get to RAW is by getting off at Warschauer Strasse station and turning right. Walk a little further, and you'll see a staircase on your right. Just go down, and you'll find yourself inside RAW.
