It's impossible to remain indifferent upon arriving at Tempelhofer Feld, Berlin’s largest public park. This incredible 350-hectare recreational space is a favorite among locals, who gather here to cycle, fly kites, have barbecues, and enjoy various outdoor activities.

Tempelhofer Feld was once home to Tempelhof Airport. After closing in 2008, its outdoor area was opened to the public two years later—a victory for Berliners, who opposed private development of the site.

The park features a Biergarten (outdoor pub), public restrooms, and community gardens. History enthusiasts can also visit the former terminal, one of Europe’s largest architectural landmarks. Several guided tours offer a glimpse into its vast 300,000-square-meter structure.
