From the outside, it’s easy to think that the Silver Penny is a bank rather than a pub. In fact, the establishment is made up of two buildings from 1839: one was a Baptist chapel, while the other was – you guessed it – a bank. It wasn’t until May 2019 that the JD Wetherspoon chain bought and renovated the space, creating the Silver Penny.

In addition to preserving the old facade, the interior of the Silver Penny feels like a museum. There are several pieces of art and historical objects on the walls.

The pub offers (lots of) breakfast, lunch, and dinner options at great prices. In fact, you're unlikely to find anything cheaper in central Dublin, though that doesn’t mean the food is bad.

Whether you're after a traditional Irish breakfast or want to try a variety of beers at low cost, the Silver Penny is a great choice. And, being spacious, with Wi-Fi and unlimited coffee for €2.15, it’s also ideal for freelancers.
