On one hand, there are no longer as many cheap places to eat in Lisbon as there were before the tourism “boom.” On the other hand, Lisbon remains a very affordable European capital, and it’s still possible to find the much-desired good Portuguese food at a low cost.
A great example is Fábrica Imperial, located in Campolide. In addition to offering excellent breakfast and lunch, the establishment is cozy and well-decorated, with a view of the Estabelecimento Prisional de Lisboa, which is probably the prettiest prison you’ll ever see (and will eventually be converted into a student dormitory).
The menu here is also straightforward: for €10
