In Príncipe Real, you’ll find Pavilhão Chinês, a traditional bar that doesn’t draw much attention from the outside, as its large red door is always closed. However, just ring the bell and step inside to understand why it has been captivating visitors since 1986.

The five rooms of Pavilhão Chinês are all decorated with historical artifacts, making it feel like a museum. In total, there are hundreds of thousands of relics, including toy soldiers, flags, maps, paintings, fabrics, and even toys from Nazi Germany. Many of the items date back to World War II, such as helmets and military medals.

The Pavilhão was born from the desire of its owner, Luís Pinto Coelho, to showcase his collection of miniatures. The project eventually found its home in a former early 20th-century grocery store and has since become a must-visit spot in Lisbon.

If that weren’t enough, the bar also boasts an extensive drinks menu, with cocktails prepared on the spot. Pool enthusiasts can enjoy a game in the back room, which, like the other rooms, has its own unique charm.
