Quimera Brewpub is already unique simply for being located inside a rock tunnel. Even more incredible is the fact that, in 1910, this same tunnel was used by the last Portuguese king, Dom Manuel II, to escape the republican attack on the Palácio das Necessidades, which ultimately led to the end of the monarchy in Portugal.

To match this very special atmosphere, Quimera offers a variety of house-made craft beers. The prices are a bit steep by Portuguese standards (€3.75for a 236 ml glass and €7for 560 ml), but they are worth it. It’s best to order smaller glasses to sample the different labels and find your favorite, as they are quite distinct from common beers. There are also several well-prepared cocktails available.

As for food, we recommend the grilled goat cheese starter with walnuts, jam, and bread. If you’re feeling hungrier, you can opt for one of their gourmet sandwiches or hot dogs.
