To find out where to eat cheaply in Lisbon, you need to know the magic word: “tasca.” Tascas are small restaurants that serve local dishes in generous portions. They also have their own unique aesthetic elements, like paper tablecloths, a TV on the wall, and decorations with a mix of random objects (often sports memorabilia).
Tascas are scattered all over Lisbon, but we have one particular recommendation: Tasquinha do Lagarto, located in Campolide. The only challenge is finding an available table, as the place is always full, but it’s worth the effort to try their specialties, such as black pork cheeks with farinheira or Bacalhau à Minhota.
Being a stronghold for Sporting fans, it’s almost impossible to find a seat on game days. The good news is that fans of other teams are also very welcome at Lagarto.
