If you seek adventure and tranquility, the countryside of Terceira is the perfect choice. Here, nature reveals its purest form, with landscapes that seem to embrace those who pass by.

For a unique and authentic experience, I highly recommend Terceira Tours. Local guide Ivo Silva is a master at uncovering the island’s secrets. He will take you to places far beyond the typical tourist routes, revealing a side of Terceira that few have the privilege to discover.

Don't miss the chance to admire Serra do Cume. This must-see spot is actually a viewpoint overlooking the largest crater in the Azores (and one of the largest in Europe), with a diameter of 15 km and one of the island's earliest formations. Also known as the "patchwork quilt", this name comes from the vast green plain now occupied by stretches of vegetation and pastures, divided by basalt stone walls. From the viewpoint, you can take in breathtaking views of the bay and the city of Praia da Vitória on one side, the Lajes plain and the Lajes Air Base on the other, and the vast interior plains of the island.

Additionally, take the opportunity to visit the Furnas do Enxofre, a vegetation-covered geothermal field with over 20 fumaroles emitting different volcanic gases at varying temperatures. You can walk through this unique landscape along a 1 km wooden trail, which takes around 30 minutes to complete, offering a close-up view of the fumaroles.
