Opened in 1892, Bodega de la Ardosa is one of Madrid’s oldest taverns. To this day, it preserves some historical elements, such as its red façade. Many taverns in the city share this feature because, in the 19th century, much of the population was illiterate. The color was essential to signal that the establishment sold wine and other alcoholic beverages.
In addition to serving amazing tapas and vermouth straight from the tap, Bodega de la Ardosa also offers Irish beers at great prices. The space is not large, but it’s cozy, and the service is exceptionally welcoming.
