The concept of a "cat café" isn’t new. It first appeared in Taiwan back in 1998 and has since spread to many countries, especially Japan. However, La Gatoteca has a unique twist: besides enjoying your drink while playing with the cats, you can even adopt one—making it a mix of a café and an animal shelter.
It’s a fantastic initiative, though we know adopting a cat can be tricky for travelers. But even if you’re just passing through, you can spend some time relaxing with these adorable companions while supporting the café financially.
Entry costs €5
La Gatoteca is near Lavapiés station. If you’d like to book a visit and meet the shelter’s cats, check out their official website.
